Dementia is an umbrella term to refer to cognitive impairment of various types that interfere with a person’s day-to-day function. Researchers project that half of the adults over the age of 85 will be impacted by some form of dementia. In addition, a significant portion of the U.S. population will be affected by the disease either as a caregiver or a person with the diagnosis. To learn more about the different types of dementia, please review the Types of Dementia web page hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association. – See more at: http://igrow.org/healthy-families/aging/dementia/
About First Step to Care
We created this website to help you avoid some of the stresses we experienced during a crisis situation while caring for our grandmother. We faced urgent decisions regarding her care, but we didn’t know where to find the information to make smart choices. Our goal is to provide a starting point to help you find information, services and other resources in your search for senior care. Our hope is that this site can provide you with a first step to finding reliable care for your loved one.
